Several years ago
the Steel City- Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania committed to be one of the most sustainable cities in America.
Since then, they have made admirable progress to that end.
As this Forbes
article points out, Pittsburgh is home to sustainable buildings, businesses, and even art installations. Pittsburgh is home to the largest "green
wall" in the country- a 2,380 sq. ft. soil based public art piece; the Fairmont Pittsburgh hotel, a mixed-use and Gold level LEED certified structure; and the Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens
just opened a LEED Platinum certified research and education complex.
